Name our band CONTEST!

5 authors write about 5 guys and the 5 girls who get to fall in love with them.
But first, we need your help!

We’ve been writing about this awesome boy band for a while now, but we haven’t found a band name that we truly LOVE, know what I mean? So we decided to turn to you, boy-band connoisseurs, and avid readers to help us find the perfect one. Best of all? The winner will get a $25 gift card AND their whole name mentioned in one or more of the BACKSTAGE PASS books! All you have to do is come up with that kick-ass band name and tweet about the contest with the hashtag #BackstagePass. Easy-peasy. Click on over to the Entangled Teen Blog to enter the name in the comments, and then hit up the Rafflecopter for points!

About the BACKSTAGE PASS series

Five guys thought winning a making-of-the-band reality TV show would be the pinnacle of their career...until their band scored a sell-out stadium tour and became the hottest group in the country. Trying to keep their personal lives out of the tabloids while they maneuver media near-disasters and dodge rabid fans leaves little time for romance—not that their manager would allow it anyway.

But maybe, if their luck holds out, a summer on the road might lead each guy to that one girl he's been waiting his whole life to sing for...if fame doesn’t get in the way.

Join The Heartthrob, The Bad Boy, The Big Brother, The Shy Boy, and The Cute One as they hit the road in search of their one true love. Could it be you?

Things happened today. . .

First, my editor posted this on Publisher's Marketplace,

then I squeed for a while and posted this on Twitter,

then I looked at my homemade promo art for a while and squeed some more,

and then I just sat around and smiled hard.

Getting writerly inspiration where I can...

This week, it's from watching the documentary: White Stripes Under Northern Lights

"Deadlines and things make you creative, but opportunity and telling yourself 'oh, all time in the world'...that just kills creativity."

"Book only 4-5 days in the studio and force yourself to record an album [or write a book (Ophelia London insert)] in that time."

I'm high as Kilimanjaro...

...and with you, Jack, I'm ready for flight...

Because of all the crap I tried to watch on TV tonight (I miss the Olympics) made me really miss the insanely-quality programming like my beloved  S M A S H.

Try not to smile and sing along with this little toe-tapper.

Henry's playlist

Songs from the story: DEFINITELY, MAYBE IN LOVE
**Spring's iPod**
When it comes to loading up Spring's iPod with a super-subtle playlist of makeout songs, no one is more sneaky or sexy about it than Henry Edward Knightly, III. That's just a fact.
Thanks for playing #HenryPlaylist, guys.
Here it is!

Music Monday - Glory of Love

I'm super giddy about finally writing a story with THIS SONG as theme on the playlist.
It's so super swoony. Okay, 80's swoony, but still.
(FALLING FOR HER SOLDIER, coming in January!)

And it got me to thinking about my sister and a very important question:
Ahem. Sister, which Peter Cetera song is best? I know which one you'll pick, but I vote for this one. Yeah, I know, your pick is good too, and really dreamy, and the movie it's from is like the best movie ever--especially the scene when your song plays--and the actor is so super cute, and yeah, okay...you win.

Henry's playlist - iPod giveaway!

Ah, amore. You gotta love that "can't eat, can't sleep, can't think" feeling. We all have playlists that help convey our emotions, and Spring--my main character in Definitely, Maybe in Love--explains why she is on an "all-chick musical kick." Bossy and opinionated (though adorably sexy), Henry sets out to widen Spring's (ahem) musical exposure with a playlist of his own: All male singers and all with one similar "theme." :)

TO PLAY: Tell me your favorite make out song, either on Twitter using #HenryPlaylist, or in the comments (don't forget your email addy). If you're the winner, the prize is an iPod shuffle, and your song will be added to the official "Spring's Education of the Mail Voice" playlist...straight from Henry.

(Warning: per Spring, no Marvin Gaye, no Prince and no Barry White. That’s just too easy.)

contest ends 11/29

Have fun, and get your smexy freak on!

Music Monday - Spring's iPod

Music always plays an important role when I'm writing a book, and I always, always make a playlist for my stories. Back in the day before iTunes or Spotify, I used to burn CD's. I call them my "songs from and inspired by [insert title]."

DEFINITELY, MAYBE IN LOVE is special because it has three playlists. One for the story: songs that move the plot along and songs that might be playing in certain scenes. Because my two main characters--Spring and Henry--are really into music but their tastes are so different, I naturally had to give each of them their own playlist. What's doubley fun is Henry's playlist is actually one he made for Spring in the book. But...more on that later. :)
(to see Henry's Playlist contest, clicky HERE)

Spring's taste in music leans toward the female musician, everything from angry rocker chicks (because sometimes it feels good to be ticked off) to cool coffeehouse guitar songbirds. Check out the tracks you might Spring jamming to...before Henry's musical education, that is.

Music Monday

I'm in a giving mood today, so I figured I would share another song from the DEFINITELY, MAYBE IN LOVE playlist. I know...I'm a giver.

Spring loves music, and she's kind of got a thing for angry chick rock. You know how it is, sometimes it's nice to get in your car and blast a little Alanis. We've all been there. Here's a little honey from Kelly Clarkson. Girl friend not only wales, but she can also write one mean hate song.

By the way, the whole of Spring's playlist (and an iPod) is up for grabs on hypable.com. Clicky-click HERE to see all the deets. Until then, enjoy:

Chivas

"Baby, I can't stand the sight of your face.
Baby, I don't even wanna hear your name...

So much for true love, I'll take the chivas instead..."
