C is for Cupcakes

I love cupcakes.

I wish there were songs written about them so I could sing along in my car, then perform them at open mike night and get discovered by Tommy Mottola or Lou Pearlman (if he wasn't in jail for ripping off the Backstreet Boy). Then I'll go on a Cupcakes for Peace world tour, raising cupcake awareness across the globe about the deliciousness of cupcakes. After I blow my voice box from too much red dye number 9, I'll have to auction off my cupcake-shaped house in the Hollywood Hills (which was right next door to Brad and Angelina, incidentally). And, wandering the streets, homeless, I'll no longer be able to afford, ironically, cupcakes.

So, for now, I suppose I'll have to be satisfied with just eating them.

New Years Wish - Healthful Living

a strawberry affirmation
(via: flickr)
Hold on. Put it down. Look how far you've come.
Look at your goals.
Think of how great you're going to feel once you hit those goals.
Do you really want that? Do you NEED it? No.
Don't eat it, it's not healthy.
Go eat some fruit to replace that, you can do this. You are not a failure, you are strong and you can stick to your goals.
Save that superpretty cupcake for later, when you really deserve it.
If you eat it now, you'll just feel gross, unhealthy and discouraged after.
Say no, it's not good for you.
I love you more than that.
xoxo

Writing Inspirations - food

Why I love food
(via: tumblr)
Last night, i was so busy NaNo-ing (yes, i'm using it as a verb now) that i completely forgot to eat dinner. i don't usually eat a proper breakfast either, so by late morning today, i was screaming-starving, generally lethargic and feeling overall uninspired about everything.

(As a writer in the mist of an important project, this is bad news.)

And then.....my little work group decided to go out for lunch. No, i did not eat a purple cupcake for lunch, but what i did have fueled both body and mind.

(PS: We tried a new burger place around the corner that had some major killer sweet potato fries.)

And now, thanks to the jolly sustenance, i am so excited to get home, slide in front of my laptop, and see what fun-ness my characters can get themselves into!

Friends & Lovers

Can I just say, I love my friends. They're the best. Always thinking of me, always on the lookout for things I'd be interested in...

"Mary, I'm at the mall...you'll love these boots."
"Hey, Mary, watch this movie."
"Mary, you need this jacket, it's so you!"
"Hello, you must try this cheesecake."
"Mary. New cupcake store."
'Nuff said.I always get two cupcakes: One chocolate (you know, in case the world ends and I have only one thing to eat before the earth explodes or freezes or whatever) and one bonus flavor. At Sugar Queen Cupcakes today, I opted for the Chocolate Chocolate Chip and the Cream Cheese Lime. Oh my. The cake is dense and moist, the mini chocolate chips are nicely packed in--yet not too numerous to detract from the main star of the show--and the frosting...did I taste a little sour cream in there?
LOVE.
Until I've tried a few more flavors, Sugar Queen will not trump my current favorite cupcake stand: In the Mix--who you met before (see July 8th post).

You will notice, however, that today's ccc didn't make it long enough to be pictured...

Helloooo, lovers

So what's with all the food posts lately? Easy. I'm planning a beach vacation, trying to get "bathing suit ready." Ergo, I can't stop thinking about sugar.

But I digress...

In the Mix cupcakes. Are the best. Better than Sprinkles, better than Dimples, better than any cupcakes in the land. This is subjective, of course--like burgers and pizza, everyone has their own opinion. And in mine, In the Mix: magnifico! Pictured here are my two (current) favorites. Chocolate ganache and lemon. I am also partial to the regular chocolate and the strawberry. And white. And red velvet. Oh, just gimme a cupcake already.

PS: In the Mix has recently been featured as a groupon and living social. But I loved it first, so there.
